Ohh dear Crab please come out... I wanna have a chat with you...

we talk about the sand artists curving out their arts on the sea beaches of puri or some other coastal tourist spots. their art forms are immensely focused by the media and subsequently praised by the people. very honestly i appreciate their talents and efforts from the very bottom of my heart. but here i am to tell you a story about tiny artists named coastal crabs. in the photo you find a small hole pointed at the very center which is actually the sweet esteemed home of these artist crabs. during the low tide hours they come out of their home and enjoy their leisure outing on the beach. they roll up the wet sands like a sand ball which are found decorated around their home. while walking along a long face of sea beach holding the hand of our loved ones we often smash their art forms under our shoes unconsciously leaving no chances of careful steps.
they do not mind, they do not call strike not even they for any argue. ones you pass by, i request you to look back for a while, you would find them busy reconstructing the damage with a happy smile.

Representing the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore through the window of my lens....

bohu din dhore bohu krosh dure
bohu byay kori bohu desh ghure
dekhite giyachhi parbotmala, dekhite giyachhi sindhu
dekha hoy nai chokkhu meliya
ghar hote shudhu dui pa feliya
ekti dhaner shisher upore ekti shishir bindu.

(trans: i travelled miles for many a year
i spent a lot in lands a far
i have gone to see the mountains, the oceans i have been to view
but i have not seen with these eyes
just two steps from my home lies
on a sheaf of a paddy grain, a glistering drop of dew.)

Photography: The art of expressing life...

The sun is waking up passing through the dark sheets of mist... It was during December-2012 my last visit to Bero hills in Purulia, West Bengal. The tree seems busking under the sun alone. the faded view of the hill range at the back drop resembles the past nights. With this rise of sun people are slowly marching towards the new empire of life leaving behind all evil dark experiences.

GRAMEEN HAAT (rural market) acts as a rural service center since past. Vendors from distant places reach the haat very early in the morning and display the items he has brought to sell. Customers from nearby villages visit hats to buy their daily household requirements. what are actually sold in these markets basically ? various types of goods and services like rice, wheat, vegetables, sweets, clothes etc. in this photo the man is selling make up items for the village women, for example ribbon (fite), vermilion (sindoor), looking glass (aaina), nail polish (nokh palish), bindi (tip) etc. some of the sellers produce home based items and sales in a very reasonable price. rabindranath  tagore had a brilliant vision behind the active engagement of the village based producers and their household products to provide a local market so that rural resources can be best utilized. in modern times with advent of shopping mall and shopping complex idea of market development, grammen haat is suffering a serious threat. western culture is back dating this traditional village market.
